Re: Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary Edition: Free Demo in December
Cheers for reaching out. We are all enthusiasts here so it's amazing that we have contact by someone in the know. I am curious about how faithful this will be to the original material, as well as the potential elements that will be present for use. Thank you for passing the torch, and give Leipa my ...

Re: Alchemyst Dig!
Oh snap, a post in this topic. You know what that means? Alchemyst DangerDash Vol.4 has been released. The release pack on the Github has been updated, and I'll be submitting it for the BDGB when I have time tomorrow. This time it's 25 caves / 5 levels, and one of these caves will exhibit a familiar...

Re: Rocks'n'Diamonds with GDash game engine
The biggest difference on classic scheduling is between BD1 and BD2. In BD1, there is just a delay loop wasting a predetermined number of cycles, depending on the level, thus it is very dependent on what's going on in the cave. This is also the reason, intermissions are significantly faster, since ...

Re: Caves and levels in original BD games
It's to save space. In the original Boulder Dash, certain elements remain static while the random number generator (RNG) seed influences element fill. However, specific seeds are used to ensure the random fill does not generate themes of impossibility -- something that was overlooked at in Amercian ...

Re: Rocks'n'Diamonds with GDash game engine
Light boulders were not a GDash element, and honestly it should. But GDash was designed to more or less allow usage of elements present in several C64 engines (including Crazy Light), and it would require GDash inserting that element through coding and other means, then making sure the addition does...

Re: Rocks'n'Diamonds with GDash game engine
If you are looking to include GDash levelsets as part of the eventual release, you can go ahead and use mine. Be aware, however, that there are GDash-specific morphs (second amoeba timers, different magic wall outputs in Dig Vol.2), so until these are implemented in stable, you might want to go with...

Re: Personal experience with fangames
My approach when I designed the series was more or less a configuration for people who have played Boulder Dash but want to do more, but also as a kind of entry point into fangames for people to get their feet wet with. My decisions (except for Dig 2, which was incredibly experimental and fully reli...

Re: Alchemyst Dig!
My introduction of using caves after P was born solely on two factors, actually: the prior one you just mentioned (C64 BD just going to level 2 after int 4), and seeing NES BD going further than what is considered cave P (whose caves were reprised in fansets such as RTA Dash). I wanted to give playe...

Perhaps I have worded it incorrectly but your explanation has made for a more detailed observation of why this occurs. In which I thank you for this.

Re: Gdash
Amoeba is scanned before butterfly, but amoeba was checking if it was choked before it checked if it clashed, giving this result.

Re: Alchemyst Dig!
Alchemyst Dangerdash 03 has been updated to 1.01.
- Adjusted the third color from #FF3333 to #FF6666 for a less intense red in Cave N (Nambulite)
- Fixed the remark of Cave X so the actual mineral is referred to as Xonotlite.
The bundle is updated.

Re: Alchemyst Dig!
Well this is unexpected. Alchemyst Dangerdash Vol.3 has been released. This is more of a "return visit to the alchemyst" caveset involving mineral gemstones. Each cave has RGB color arrays representative of these gemstones in some way, or how they are presented. Look at the titles to see e...
